Roberta Fox- O’Dowd is a professional musician and singer with over 25 years of experience in the Music Industry. Roberta was initially taught by her father Paddy O’Dowd Senior who was a renowned Irish Tenor, and began performing in the O’Dowd Family Show Band at the age of 11 years old. Roberta plays keyboard, flute and tin whistle. She is also a vocalist, songwriter and singing teacher.
Roberta has worked as a soloist, Duo and numerous bands throughout her career, performing around Victoria and interstate, including Crown Casino, and the Sydney Myer Music Bowl. She has also written and recorded numerous CD’s, including Teardrops (Larkin Label), Saints & Sinners (Mabuhay) Father Ted. In 2007 she wrote and produced Don’t Forget Me Cobber, which is distributed throughout the Victorian RSL Networks.
Roberta plays keyboards, flute and the Celtic tin whistle and is also a published songwriter and a winner of the South Pacific song writing contest. She also has works published with the ABC. In 2007, Roberta was a Victorian state finalist of My Mum Rocks, Australian Idol competition Roberta owns and operates the O’Dowd School Of Singing, based in Gippsland, Victoria, teaching students of all ages the art of singing and performance. The Singing school has produced 2 independent albums of original compositions written by Roberta and performed by her students. Roberta with her brother Bernard O’Dowd perform as a duo called “The O’Dowds” and have done so for many years regularly performing in Melbourne and have been resident artist at the Melbourne Irish Times for the past five years as well as other venues in Melbourne, regional Victoria and interstate.
Bernard is a consummate musician and singer and has worked professionally for more than thirty years in the music industry. Bernard along with Roberta cut there musical teeth along with thei10 brothers and sisters in a family show band led by their father Paddy O’Dowd snr. Bernard has managed and performed in numerous bands over the years throughout Melbourne, regional Victoria and interstate. He has produced and released several CD’s which include “Father Ted,” “Moonlighting” and “Saints and Sinners”. Bernard is an energetic and skilful uitarist, as well as accomplished vocalist. Together with his sister Roberta they perform as a duo called The O’Dowds performing regularly throughout Victoria and interstate.
